Hello, my family and friends!
Maayong udto! Kamusta kamo? How are each of you this week? Thank you for the happy memories that we have. Many times during my day, something happens or I hear something that reminds me of a happy memory with my family and friends! Thank you!
This has been a successful week for Sister Lappay and I, although we did not meet the 'standards of excellence' for teaching and referrals, we have done our best and we can see the Lord's hand in the details of our lives. It is truly amazing to be a missionary! In the beginning of our week, we were concerned at the lack of progress of every one of our investigators. Between halfheartedly completing our commitments, not coming to church, and getting discouraged at the long processes and seemingly endless fees of marriage to prepare for baptism, we began to be discouraged and see no solution to these abounding problems. Then, as we were discussing our challenges, we realized that the Lord knows each of our investigators perfectly. We must trust in Him, do all that we can to prepare ourselves to act as instruments in His hands. It is true for any situation at any time! Throughout the remainder of the week, we saw many miracles! One of which is that we have three new investigators and 10 of our investigators, including a family, came to church!!! A very happy day. By small and simple things, great things will come to pass! I know it! We are looking forward to another week of missionary work!
One funny part of Filipino culture is their great love of karaoke music. We walk to our appointments and as we walk through the paths near simple bamboo houses, we can beautiful, off tune, Filipino voices, singing enthusiastically to old English love songs. Haha! It is a simple life here in the Philippines! We must all enjoy the journey! Have a great week! I love you all!
Love,
Sister Shanna Stanley
