Hello! Kamusta! I am here safe and sound in the MTC! We arrived last
night close to 12:30 in the morning after a long day of travel. It is
now Saturday morning around 11:15! Thank you so very much for
answering the phone when I called and for talking with me for a few
minutes from the airport. I knew that I missed you before, but now it
is closer to the surface and I am reminded of the love I have for each
of you! The distance feels much more real now, but I am so grateful
for the support you give me and for your prayers in my behalf. Thank
you! Well, many things are different here, but it is so comforting to
see the church thriving here across the world. There are so many who
are in need of the gospel of Jesus Christ and I feel very privileged
to be a missionary! I am so grateful to have this cultural transition
in the Philippine MTC, as well. I found out that the Manila temple is
closed for cleaning, but I sure love seeing it across the street
anyways! I love to see the temple! During our 5 day stay at the MTC,
we will be learning in our classes, proselyting outside with the local
Manila missionaries, traveling to the travel offices to take care of
our visa issues, growing accustomed to Filipino food, the time change
and many other things! I haven't seen much of the 'outside world' so
far, because it was dark as we entered the city, but in my next email,
I hope to update you on what it is really like! I love you!!!
Yesterday, I learned once again of the importance of each person we
have the chance to talk to. Every person that I sat next to on the
plane taught me things that they will never know. Keep that in mind! I
am almost out of time! I love you! Please be safe and happy! I love
you all! Nahigugma ko kanako! Love, Sister Shanna Stanley
