Dear family and friends,
It has been a wonderful week here in Lapu Lapu. My new companion, Sister Allen is amazing. She is the most Christ-like missionary that I have been privileged to meet! We are both American and it is very nice to avoid the language and culture barrier that sometimes occurs in companionships. I love her very much and she is fluent in Cebuano, still one of my weaknesses. There is so much to learn from her and I am looking forward to it! I am finally feeling better from my sinus infection, it did get worse before it got better. Sister Allen is so patient! In the Lapu Lapu Zone Orientation, we really struggled to introduce the implementations because I lost my voice! But have no fear, it has again returned. I am grateful for Priesthood blessings, and cough drops this week. :-)
All went well with transfers. With only a few days down, we haven't had much time to bond with the Sisters. For this coming week, we have transfers planned, so our report will contain more information. We will be sure to let you know of any concerns. In Lapu Lapu 1, Sister Capoy and Sister Reyes are happy together and are determined to be exactly obedient, diligent missionaries. In Lapu Lapu 2, Sister Gil and her trainee, Sister Arce are doing very well. We talked with them at the Zone Orientation on Friday. In Mandaue 1, Sister Obedoza and Sister Serapion are also doing well! They are in their second transfer together and are working very diligently. In Mandaue 4, Sister Delos Reyes and Sister Schroeder are very happy together as well. This is Sister Schroeder's first area in Cebu, so I know that she will learn so much from Sister Delos Reyes. We love them all so much!
A favorite spiritual experience of mine this week, was as I was doing my best to study the Book of Mormon in Personal Study. I was feeling stressed and overwhelmed, not able to feel of the Spirit. After trying and trying, the words of the familiar hymn, "As I Search The Holy Scriptures", came into my mind. I got my hymn book out, read the words to myself and clearly felt the Spirit. I especially like the fourth verse,
"As I search the holy scriptures,
Help me ponder and obey.
In thy word is life eternal;
May thy light show me the way."
I am so grateful! Nasayud ko nga si Jesukristo mao ang kahayag, ang kinabuhi, ug ang paglaum sa kalibutan. Ang Basahon ni Mormon mao ang Lain nga Tugon ni Jesukristo. May His light show us the way! Thank you! Have a wonderful week in paradise!
